• Baphomet has had a long, steady history spanning from the Middle Ages!
• Since 1856, the name has been linked to the Sabbatic Goat image that Éliphas Lévi made, as misinterpreted by Arthur Edward Waite, the creator of the ever-popular Rider-Waite deck of Tarot cards.
• Lévi meant for Baphomet to symbolize equal balance - good and evil, light and dark, right and left, etc.
• His talk of Baphomet can be found in one of his books, called "Transcendental Magic", which is cut up into halves actually, Doctrine and Ritual.
• Baphomet was first worshiped by the Knights Templar, who interpreted Them as a figure of Satan.
