MIDWINTER

WHAT IS IT?

This is the shortest day of the year, also known as Yule. For me, at least, as I live in the northern hemisphere. While the beauty of the night in winter captures me, it is important to note that this is the turning point in the year where the days get longer and the nights get shorter. This celebration has been practiced since ancient times by many cultures around the world.

WHY CELELBRATE IT?

Midwinter is absolutely the perfect opportunity to remember the cycle of life. This doesn't mean that I need to rejoice in death - I just need to be aware and not count my days and live life to the fullest, because I don't know when it'll be taken from me. For this reason, I chose to celebrate LIFE and not DEATH! Also, it is important to remember that some things should end so that new ones can begin.
